Bristol fire cooking collective

Based in Bristol, Ubuntu Food draws on the city’s vibrant rebellion; a place that advocates for the power of collective positive action, and actively challenges the systems we are a part of. The philosophy of Ubuntu underpins the work that we do and consciously connects us to our community of artisan creatives, growers and unique places where our relationship with nature and one another is valued.

Our work celebrates the ceremony of fire cooked food, and speaks of seasonality and localised food systems through each menu. We love connecting with clients from all walks of life, working collaboratively to design food and fire experiences that elevate the spirit of your special occasion.

Fire pit ubuntu food

With beginnings as a supper club out of lock down, our fire cooking collective continues to evolve season on season. Today we love curating immersive feasts for a diverse range of events. From smaller intimate gatherings around the fire pit, through to large ceremonial feasts at weddings and festivals. Our collective of experienced hospitality creatives strive to be the change we want to see in our industry. Meaningful. Connected. Considered in each detail.

from Founder and Chef, Imke Potgieter

For as long as I remember food and fire has been at the centre of my life.
I grew up as part of a big South African family on the Norfolk Coast, where my curiosity for exploring natural landscapes, and my love for experiencing the magic of good food shared with others first started.

Exploring the intertwined relationship of food, people and culture, has in many ways underpinned my curiosities as a Chef. Cooking and eating with people from across the world continues to feed my desire to delve deeper into our relationship with food, and its source. From exploring and foraging wild landscapes, to cooking for our community in unique outdoor places; I have always felt a deep sense of purpose when connected with nature and exchanging with people around a fire.
